Yelagiri is actually a group of small village as well as a fascinating hill station, away from the hustle and bustle of Vellore district, in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Situated at an altitude of 1,410 meters, above the sea level it covers an area of 30 sq km. The scenic beauty of the village is worth watching. The lush green surroundings of the hills with flourishing valleys, terrific rose gardens and orchards create a magical sight. Except the nature's beauty, tribals, who are the main inhabitants of the place, also attract many tourists with their customs, persuasion and unique architecture of their houses.

Highlights of Yelagiri Hills:

Jalagamparal Waterfalls:
Jalagamparal Waterfalls is located at a short distance of 5 km on the other side of the hill. The milky white gargling water of this elegant waterfall cascade down through the high hills of Yelagiri and flows into the beautiful Attaru river. The romantic surroundings of the waterfall attracts many love birds and newly married couples.

Punganoor Lake and Park:
Punganoor Lake is one of the most popular spot of the Yelagiri hills. It is an artificial lake along with a beautiful park nearby. The park is spread over an area of 6 acre, which is the perfect destinations for kids, where they can enjoy a lot. Also you may have the pleasure of boating in the lake.

Don Bosco Center:
Don Bosco Center was founded by Fr. Guezou of France, which is a praise-worthy effort. The center provides IT education to the poor and illiterate people, to secure their future. At Don Bosco Center, there are IGNOU Study Center, IT Training Center and Software Development Center.

Swami Malai:
It is the highest peak of the region at an altitude of 4,338 feet. The hills of Sawai Malai are in the shape of cake, having a strong base. Also the place enhance an ideal location for trekking.

Vainu Bappu Solar Observatory:
Vainu Bappu Solar Observatory is one of the largest solar observatories near Yelagiri, located in Kavalar. One has to take permission to get an access to the observatory.
