The priest of monasteries are known as Lamas or monks. They usually wear bright terracotta robes and has a very simple living style. "Kushok" is the head of Lamas, who is considered to be the incarnation of some holy man of long ago. They enjoys the title of "Rinpoche", which means the precious jewel. The monks are preachers, teachers and play an important role of priest on the auspicious ceremonies such as births, deaths and marriages and during the celebrations of Losar festival.
